The Ijen and Bromo tour is one of the most exciting ways to explore the natural beauty of East Java. Starting from Banyuwangi, this adventure takes you to two of the most famous volcanoes in Indonesia: Ijen Crater and Mount Bromo. It’s the perfect trip for travelers who want to experience stunning landscapes, unique volcanic scenery, and unforgettable sunrises.
The journey usually begins with a night trip to Ijen Crater. After a short drive to the mountain base, you’ll hike up to the crater while enjoying the cool early morning atmosphere. At the top, you’ll see the incredible turquoise crater lake and, if conditions allow, the famous blue fire phenomenon. Watching the sunrise from the crater rim is a magical moment and a great start to the adventure.
After exploring Ijen, the journey continues across East Java toward the legendary Mount Bromo area. The scenery along the way changes from tropical countryside to mountain landscapes and traditional villages.
At Bromo, the adventure continues with a sunrise tour by 4WD jeep. You’ll visit the famous viewpoint overlooking the volcanic landscape before crossing the vast sea of sand to reach the crater itself.

Your trip begins with a pick-up from your hotel in Banyuwangi in the early morning. From there, you’ll drive to the base of Ijen Crater, one of the most famous volcanoes in East Java.
After arriving at the starting point, you’ll begin the hike to the crater. The trek usually takes about 1.5 to 2 hours along a wide mountain trail. As you reach the top, you’ll be rewarded with incredible views of the turquoise volcanic lake and the dramatic crater landscape. It’s a great moment to enjoy the fresh mountain air and capture some amazing photos.
Once the Ijen tour is finished, the journey continues across East Java toward the Bromo area. Along the way you’ll pass beautiful countryside, local villages, and scenic mountain landscapes.
In the afternoon or evening, you will arrive in Ngadisari, a small mountain village located near Mount Bromo. Here you will check in and spend the night at Whiz Capsule Hotel Bromo, where you can rest and prepare for the early morning Bromo adventure

Free time to relax and prepare for the early morning Bromo tour
Early in the morning, the Bromo adventure begins with a jeep ride to one of the best viewpoints around Mount Bromo. From here, you’ll watch the famous sunrise slowly illuminate the volcanic landscape, revealing Mount Bromo, Mount Batok, and the vast sea of sand below.
After sunrise, the jeep will take you down into the Bromo caldera where you’ll cross the sea of sand and begin a short trek to the crater of Mount Bromo. From the top, you can look directly into the active crater while enjoying the dramatic volcanic scenery around you.
Once the tour is finished, you’ll return to your hotel in Ngadisari for breakfast and some time to freshen up. After checking out, the journey continues with a transfer to Juanda International Airport in Surabaya, marking the end of your memorable Ijen and Bromo adventure in East Java.
